INTASC Principle #3 - Learning Environments

The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, and that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self motivation.

All students have diverse learning needs. According to Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, some students are interpersonal while others are intrapersonal. Each day I developed a variety of lessons which encouraged an array of both independent and collaborative teaching strategies. I have listed a few of the strategies I used on a daily basis.

- Think-Pair-Share (Think about it, Talk with a neighbor, Share your ideas with the class)

- Partner Interview (Talk with a partner, Share your partner's ideas with the class)

- Committee Conference (A small group discusses an issue, Each member must write at least one idea on the recording sheet)

- Teach the Teacher (Students work in a small group to become an expert on a topic, Students then teach the class)
